A great historical survey of Prohibition in Chesapeake Bay.
A Lively Jaunt Through a Bygone EraThe author has done it again with this fine companion to his superb CHESAPEAKE BAY IN THE CIVIL WAR. Bravo, Eric Mills!
Another Splendid Effort By Mills

Amazing funny detailsThere are some particularly wonderful details at the "Wortlethorpe Canine and Feline Resettlement Department" such as the treatment of the agressive cats ("cold baths twice daily until unaggressive") and the unfriendly dogs ("starve until friendly"), as well as a thrilling chase which culminates in the ruination of the official opening of the "Wortlethorpe Museum European Tea-Cosy and Muff Wing."

Cheers to Crossing Cadogan Bay!The book begins with a boy's miserable life, which quickly turns to a life of adventure and mystery. The story takes on a life of its own and compels the reader to the ending: And what an ending! I compare the feeling I got from the ending of this book to the feelings I get reading the endings in the Harry Potter books . . . I want more!
Though the book was designed for young adults, this is truly a book for children of all ages-from 9 to 90. I for one, hope to see-and read-many more books by J.M. Mangano.
A Fast-paced Time Fantasy
Nothing is what it seems. The story begins with a young boy living in dismal and difficult circumstances, but quickly whisks him away into a complex and mysterious, even mystical, adventure. One of the characters says that "Nothing is what it seems", and that statement sets the tone for the entire book. In some really inspired crafting, almost none of the characters end up quite the same person you thought they were at first meeting. Since I am a couple of decades past 12 years old I find it a little hard to admit that as the book progressed, and as the stakes increased, I began turning the pages as quickly as possible. Throw in a compelling love story, and you end up with a darned good read, even if you're not 12 years old.

Well Written; Suspenseful!I look forward to book three in the series and to other future books by this author.
Fantastic Read! Not only does Mindy Clark do a great job with her character profiles/backgroud but it makes you feel like you know them and are with them while the story unfolds. I found myself at times talking to them ( the characters).
In this book, Callie not only works on another murder mystery, but she also is going through some personal feelings and changes.
Her boss, Tom, is and enigma to me and there are a few nuggets of info on him that keep you guessing just what is up with him. I am so hoping in the next book that Mindy will give us some more details on him.
Mindy's books both the first in this series ( A Penny For Your Thoughts) and Don't Take any Wooden Nickels are really, really hard to put down.
Enjoy them. I know I sure did.
Excellent Read!
